What’s Next for H.R. 2225 & H.R. 3593

--

On June 28, 2021 the U.S. House of Representatives Passed two pieces of bipartisan legislation which will shape the future of the National Science Foundation and the Department of Energy Office of Science:

H.R. 2225, the NSF for the Future Act & H.R. 3593, the DOE Science for the Future Act

What happens next?

A bill must pass both the Senate and the House of Representatives before it can go to the President for their signature.

Is there a Senate companion to these two bills? Is it the U.S. Innovation and Competition Act which passed the Senate in June?

Not exactly.

The NSF and DOE Science for the Future Act are two pieces of a comprehensive policy package being prepared in the House to ensure the United States remains competitive and is able to lead the world in scientific solutions.
